This section contains a wide variety databases, including: Associations (Organizations) Directory; Book Reviews; Children's Resources; Dissertations; Encyclopedia Britannica; Essays; General Reference Resources; General, Comprehensive, and lower-level journal databases; Government Publications; Electronic (online) Books; Newspapers; Statistical Data; Vocational Resources) The following two points may assist you in using them effectively. Multidiscipline databases such as General OneFile, ProQuest [All combined], and Wiley Interscience contain information from many subject areas, combined into one database. See description of the individual for details on their exact content. The following is a selective list of the specialty databases, described in detail below, to keep in mind for any and all of your research projects.

AgeLine is produced by AARP. Its references come from the gerontology collection of AARP's Research Information Center, as well as selected articles from 300 magazines and journals. All references include original abstracts. |

Unlimited via InfoTrac Web Contains information for approximately 460,000 international and U.S. national, regional, state, and local nonprofit membership organizations in all fields, including IRS data on U.S. 501(c) nonprofit organizations. |

Biography and Genealogy Master Index via InfoTrac Web This database provides extensive lists of sources where biographical information may be obtained. While the database itself does not provide information concerning individuals, it indicates the resources where this information may be found. |

Reference Bank via Wilson Web Contains articles and abstracts dealing with over 500,000 people. Where full text is not available, a list of databases is provided, indicating other databases in which full text of abstracts may be found.

Collection: Nonfiction via EbscoHost Designed for school libraries, contains more than 2,000 full-text books addressing many areas of school curriculum, including social studies and science. |

Review Digest Plus via Wilson Web Covering over 550,000 books, provides indexes of reviews of current fiction and non-fiction, with over 100,000 reviews in full text.

Online via CollegeSource Provides access to a large number of college catalogs as well as links to their respective Web pages and profiles. |

| Contemporary Women's Issues via FirstSearch Indexes books, journals, and various agencies, to address such issues as health and human rights. |

Researcher via
CQ Electronic Library Offers in-depth, non-biased 12,000-word reports on political and social issues, covering such topics as health, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the U.S. economy. Reports date back to 1991. |

Dissertation Abstracts Online via FirstSearch Abstracts of dissertations. Many of these are not available through interlibrary loan. |

Animals via EbscoHost For the elementary reader, provides in-depth information in the Encyclopedia of Animals on a variety of topics relating to animals. |

Britannica Online Encyclopedia Britannica, in several reader-level editions, contains articles, images, and related Internet links. |

Europa
World Europa World is the online version of the Europa World Year Book, a valuable source of world-wide information covering political and economic information about more than 250 countries and territories, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. |

Fiction Connection Provides lists of suggested reading in fiction and biography titles. Users may select by author, genre, timeframe, etc., to find similar titles. Reviews, excerpts, and other information are included. |

EbscoHost This database provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas. |

OneFile via InfoTrac Web A large index combining the academic and non-academic periodicals of many InfoTrac databases, covering a broad range of such topics as business, humanities, and technology. |

InfoTrac Web General interest database that integrates a variety of sources in one easy-to-use interface. Provides information on current events, popular culture, business and industry coverage, the arts and sciences, sports, hobbies, and more. |

GPO Access This service of the Government Printing Office provides indexing to some documents and full text of others. |

via InfoTrac Web A collection of general Hispanic magazines with full text, covering business, health, technology, culture, and other current topics. |

Journal Search via Serial Solutions Use Journal Search to search for the location of full text-journals within the online databases provided by Troy. This does not provide full text of articles but indicates where full text is found, if it’s available in at least one of Troy’s online databases. Be sure to look at dates of holdings to see if your article is available. |

Academic via LexisNexis A primary resource for full text journal articles, this is the gateway to a number of databases embedded within. After you are in these databases, click the appropriate area of interest in the left-hand column. Resources include business articles, case law, law reviews, industry reports, company reports, statistics, and health care news. Clicking the various buttons at the top of their page (How Do I?, Sources, News, etc.) produces helpful information. |

with Full Text via EbscoHost SocINDEX with Full Text is a very comprehensive sociology research database, featuring more than 1,300,000 records with subject headings from a 15,000 term sociology-specific thesaurus. The database contains full text for 235 "core" coverage journals dating back to 1895, and 72 "priority" coverage journals. This database also includes full text for 545 books and monographs, and full text for 6,601 conference papers. |

Interscience via Wiley This database, containing only resources published by John Wiley & Sons, covers a number of disciplines, especially business, psychology, and social sciences. Resources consist mostly of journals, but also online books and reference works. Most, but not all, materials are full text. Searching it takes a little patience, but there is excellent material. |

Information includes the libraries that own the item, what editions or issues they hold, in which of their libraries (general, medical, science, etc.) it is found, and whether it’s in the reference or circulation collection. |

Encyclopedia Britannica Offers detailed statistical comparisons of countries around the world, using both the most recent statistics and historical figures. Allows for creating tables and charts. Contains articles on countries from Britannica Concise Encyclopedia. |
