Tips/hints/features:

• On the first Facts on File page, click on the left side on "Multicultural".  Then click on the right side, "African American History and Culture".

• If you know your topic, type your keyword in the search box.  The results will be displayed in sections.  For example, a search for "Dred Scott" found 2  biographies, 2 encyclopedia entries, 8 historical documents, 2 items in the Gallery, and 1 map/chart.

• If you are not sure what topic you'd like to write on, click on one of the sections to the left.  For example, click on "Historical Documents" and you will get the further choice of "By era" or "By topic".   The first choice breaks history into date groups and, under each group, lists the available documents (eg., 1775-1819 gives you the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Fugitive Slave Act of 1793,  the Three-Fifths Act of 1787 and 3 others).  The second choice allows you to choose by topics such as affirmative action, emancipation, free blacks, military, segregation and Jim Crow, and sports.
