LITERATURE: The Library's Literature Bibliographies page <link here> provides detailed guides to researching literature. For more than one hundred authors, it provides suggestions as to exactly what databases to search and what search to use. ACLS Humanities E-Book via American Council of Learned Societies

Includes over 1,700 full-text titles offered by the ACLS in collaboration with a number of learned societies, publishers, and the University of Michigan’s Scholarly Publishing Office.

America: History and Life via ABC-CLIO

Contains abstracts of journal articles and citations to book and media reviews concerning history and culture of the United States and Canada from prehistoric times to the present.

Arts and Humanities Search via FirstSearch

Indexes arts and humanities resources. Does not include full text, but does allow you to limit searches to materials owned by Troy.

Book Review Digest Plus via Wilson Web Includes full text.

Covering over 550,000 books, provides indexes of reviews of current fiction and non-fiction, with over 100,000 reviews in full text.

Classical Music Library via CML Includes full text.

Continually growing catalog of thousands of classical music tracks available for searching, browsing, and listening, accompanied by extensive biographical and reference materials.

Columbia Granger's Index to Poetry Includes full text.

Contains full text of thousands of poems; brief biographies of poets, critical materials, a glossary, and bibliographic information on a number of anthologies.

Contemporary Authors via InfoTrac Web Includes full text.

Provides full-text biographical and bibliographical information on over 100,000 writers in a variety of fields. This material is primarily biographical rather than critical, though some analysis is included.

Provides nearly 10,000 biographical and critical essays on the lives, works, and careers of the world's most influential literary figures from all eras and genres.

Fiction Connection

Provides lists of suggested reading in fiction and biography titles. Users may select by author, genre, timeframe, etc., to find similar titles. Reviews, excerpts, and other information are included.

Full text of hundreds of journals, books, and other published sources from around the world in all aspects of the humanities.

JSTOR (Arts & Sciences Collections) via JSTOR Includes full text.

Multi-disciplinary full-text collections which include the complete back runs of journal titles in many disciplines, mainly in the social sciences and humanities. Does not have current information, but is an excellent resource for background information on many topics.

Literary Reference Center via EbscoHost Includes full text.

Literary Reference Center (LRC) combines information from over 1,000 books and monographs, major literary encyclopedias and reference works, hundreds of literary journals, and unique sources not available anywhere else.

Literature Resource Center via InfoTrac Includes full text.

Over 600 full-text resources providing biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of more than 120,000 authors.

LitFinder InfoTrac Includes full text.

Gateway to a variety of full-text literature resources. Indexes thousands of poems, stories, plays, and essays, containing full text of many. International in scope, the database covers all time periods.

MLA Directory of Periodicals via EbscoHost

Offers detailed information on over 7,100 journals, primarily those pertaining to literature and the arts. Entries include editorial contact information, as well as frequency, circulation, subscription prices, and submission guidelines. Does not include articles.

MLA International Bibliography via EbscoHost Includes full text. Text is linked from other Ebsco databases.

Index to the writings about literature, criticism, language, linguistics and folklore. Some citations are linked to text in other databases.

The Music Index via EbscoHost

Provides indexing to topics concerned with every aspect of classical and popular music. Articles full text in other Ebsco databases are linked to the citations.

NetLibrary Includes full text.

A specially created online collection of nearly 50,000 full-text books, in a broad range of academic subject categories. These are actual academic books that have been digitized for the convenience of library users. Make sure to read HELP.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature via EbscoHost

International bibliography of scholarly writings on music as well as music-related disciplines. Dating from 1967 through the present. An indexing of sources published in over 140 languages is offered. A few citations are linked to full-text articles in other databases.

RIPM Music Periodicals via FirstSearch

Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals provides citations to eighteenth-, nineteenth-, and twentieth-century international periodical literature dealing with music.
