INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS <back to choose database menu>

Which databases do I use?
There are no databases that address only International Relations, per se. Depending on the nature of your course/research topic, look to one or more of the "Help me choose" pages, e.g., History, Political Science, Law, for guidance.

For assistance in selecting a database by type of information source, e.g., newspapers, books, or reference works, also turn to the"Help me choose" page.

The following specific guidance is offered:

  • Europa World is a database with which International Relations researchers must familiarize themselves. Click here for the help page for that database.
  • World Data Analyst is a database with which International Relations researchers must familiarize themselves. Click here for the help page for that database.
  • Although most research should involve peer-reviewed journal articles, the ProQuest Newspapers database can be an excellent source of current news from nations around the world. For example, newspapers within the database include: The Bangkok Post, Jerusalem Post,The Moscow Times, The Saigon Times Daily, and The Times of India.
  • In addition to traditional books, the NetLibrary database contains a Reference Center that provides specialized encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks within such disciplines as History, Political Science, etc.
  • Another book database, Credo Reference, also contains reference sources of interest, e.g., A Dictionary of Diplomacy, Dictionary of Politics and Government, and The Blackwell Dictionary of Political Science.
